Kreator Trashing Indonesia 2005

A brief report from saturday night @ Ancol. Finally I got there @ 07.40 PM. Missed the opening act in purposed, since me and my friends (Mr. Nikk and Mr. Yudi) intended to watch Kreator only. Got busted on the way into venue just because we brought our mineral water by ourselves. Dooh. What the hell they think we are? Some kind of freaks that'll run amok and threw bottles to people? And my buddy Mr. Nikk evidently got caught with his digital camera in his bag. Hahaha. I've told him to put it in his socks, so we can sneaked it into the venue and took as much good pictures as we wanted it. Sigh. He had to surrendered it to the security guy to be kept along the concert with other people cameras. But hey, cheer up. We came to watch this German's King of Trash. So we headed up to the venue.

Inside. First we headed up to the t-shirt booth and bought the event t-shirts, while we choose and picked our tees, the intensive-heavy-banging drum sound started to rumble from the stage.

It’s Jürgen Reil–the drummer gave an intro for the song from their latest album Enemy of God. We started to rush to the stage. On our way there we met some of our friends from Bandung, Mr. Sule, Mr. Mulky Seurieus and Mr. I-forgot-what’s-his-name-was. Hahaha. Sorry dude. Watched from the back of the crowd for the first song. Then we (Mr. Nikk and me) fight our way up to the front to get a better view, while Mr. Yudi decided to stay on the back.

Dang. The barricade was about 6 meters from the stage. We couldn’t get any further. So we decide to stay there and took pictures with our cellphone’s camera. Alas. We couldn’t get sharp pictures with it. Beat it. The excitement of being there watch them played and moshing with all the fucked-up guys was more than just fun. Holding my cellphone as hard as possible while aiming and try to catch the best moment from the stage, in the middle of mass mosh-pit. Took some pictures, videoed some of the songs, and suddenly…..Bam! A huge elbow landed on the back of my head. Almost lost my phone. Hahaha. The man quickly apologized to me because of that. That’s okay. It sure was fun. Having the “right” crowd flooded over there, none of them are looking for some trouble. A real die-hard fans. So there’s no hurt feelings.

Trying to get more closed by slipping through lots of sweated people, I made it to the centre front of the stage. Good God. I can take a better pictures from there. Get a better pictures from the frontman Mille Petrozza–the singer and guitar, who keep asked us to say “HATE” not “LOVE”. The stage was not too big. It’s about 15 meters wide, with a 5 meters long bridge on the middle. On the left (from my view to the stage) was Christian "SPEESY" Giesler playing his Bass Guitar while banging his long haired head. The frontman Mille Petrozza in the center front, Jürgen Reil–the drummer behind him, with his big bulky hand keep banging the drum intensively, and the last, Sami Yli-Sirniö–Mr. Lead Guitar, the calm guy, standing on the right side.

There, in the middle of the moshing party right in front of center-stage, I met my friend Arian13 shouting and sweating. Hahaha. I guess everyone were enjoyed the show. Kreator played really hard, they didn’t seem like loosing their energy
at all. It feels like the good old days when their first album Endless Pain were just out. The sound was good, the lighting also. The wallscreen on the back of the stage keep showed horrific images from their album’s cover. It really was a good show for an old Trash Metal Band that was just launched their new album, Enemy of God. On the encore part, Mille Petrozza-who almost lost his breath-trying to make us saying the word ”HATE” not “LOVE”–“On every show we had, we always ask people to say one word. Not love, but HATE. It’s time to raise…the Flag of Hate!” Hahaha. Some people never change. But he happen to made people said it though. Every single person in the crowd were shouting HATE! HATE! HATE! HATE! And they played the song Flag of Hate.

The show ended on 10.30 PM, and we went outside met some friends had a chat about the show, and then we split and walked back outside Ancol with empty stomach, thirst but with enormous feeling inside. After we took Mr. Nikk’s camera back, we went home.
